Malden River Works Park Print

PROJECT TYPE: Artwork CLIENT: City of Malden TIMELINE: May - June 2026

The City of Malden engaged Curioko Studio to commission an original watercolor painting and commemorative prints to celebrate the completion of the first phase of construction for the historic Malden River Works Park. The City wanted the commissioned art work to be recognizable as the specific park, but not photo-realistic, and include important features of the new park’s design and local natural elements.

In collaboration with the City, I developed an initial line work sketch and a full color mockup, incorporating feedback from the City at each stage of the process. The final artwork features an emotive landscape characteristic of my illustrative works that captures the joyous moment of the community reconnecting with the Malden River and the soothing experience of being in community with our natural environment. The painting also features local wildlife, like the great blue heron, snapping turtle, and red-tailed hawk. I coordinated with a print service to order 50 archival quality prints, and matted, framed, and packaged each print to be ready to be gifted by the City to the project’s supporters.

The final artwork was created with watercolor paints, colored pencil, and wax crayons on hot pressed watercolor paper.
