Zine Making Workshops

PROJECT TYPE: Facilitation CLIENT: MAPC TIMELINE: April - May 2026

The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) engaged Curioko Studio to plan and facilitate zine making workshops for High School students at the Metro Boston Youth Climate Summit. MAPC wanted to create welcoming space for the students to have a chance to engage with the creative side of their brains

We designed a workshop titled, Zine Making as Your Storytelling Superpower, to provide the students with an introduction to what a zine is, how to fold one, and the basics of written and visual short form storytelling. The workshops focused on zines and storytelling as a mechanism both for activism and processing complex emotions associated with curiosity about their collective future. We crafted the workshop agenda and goals, produced an instructional zine and supporting materials, and led the facilitation of two workshop sessions during the summit.
